Online Reviews

A leading insurance brokerage company observed highly negative and stereotyped reviews on an online review platform managed by one of its competitors.

YL Avocats noted (i) numerous inconsistencies in the reviews, making it impossible to understand the ratings, and (ii) that the online review platform did not adhere to the obligations imposed by French regulations on platforms engaged in collecting, moderating, or disseminating online reviews from consumers.

Recognizing the violation of Articles L.111-7-2 and D.111-17 of the Consumer Code, YL Avocats initiated an expedited substantive procedure, considering the urgency as the harm continued to escalate.

The platform modified its review calculation methods affecting the client to balance out negative reviews and adjusted its website to better comply with the Consumer Code rules.
